The National Science Resources Center, an organization of both the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies, has launched a new series, Science and Technology for Children BOOKS™, to add a literacy component to an NSF-Funded curriculum program for elementary students. Each book is designed to be used in conjunction with a Science and Technology for Children® unit or as a stand-alone resource that conveys topics in a way that makes science interesting and relevant.
Science and Technology for Children BOOKS™ helps teachers link students’ science activities to learning in other areas of the curriculum, particularly history, language arts, and social studies. They also provide an excellent means to meet the National Science Education Standards of the National Research Council, as well as state science standards. And the entire series of books provides a unique way of highlighting work being done by scientists at one of the world’s foremost museum complexes—the Smithsonian Institution.
Each of the 12 Science and Technology for Children BOOKS™ in the series is 64 pages, colorfully illustrated with drawings and photographs each, and has been reviewed by a nationally recognized reading specialist.
The books can be purchased:

Individual books, sets, and series are not eligible for additional discounts.
A Teacher’s Guide is available for each book—Animal Studies, Ecosystems, Electric Circuits, Experiments with Plants, Floating and Sinking, Food Chemistry, Land and Water, Magnets and Motors, Measuring Time, Microworlds, Motion and Design, and Technology of Paper—for $4.50 each.
