15. Resignation and Early Departure

15.1 Procedure

15.2 Restrictions

15.1 Procedure

15.1.1 -- You must inform the Associateship Programs office in writing, as far in advance as possible, of your decision to resign an award earlier than the officially scheduled date on which your tenure ends.

15.1.2 -- The resignation request must be routed through the Adviser, the Laboratory Representative, and the Program Administrator, and concurrence must be granted by all parties.

15.1.3 -- If you resign prior to the officially scheduled end of tenure, the effective date of resignation will be the last day you were in residence at the laboratory, excluding weekends and holidays.

15.2 Restrictions

15.2.1 -- If a resignation results in a period of tenure of six successive months or less, expenses previously reimbursed for the initial relocation of dependents will not be allowable, and you will be asked to repay the Research Council in that amount. You will also be asked to repay the cost of moving household goods.

15.2.2 -- Resignation may affect or invalidate any return travel commitments. All outstanding travel and stipend advances must be repaid before a resignation can be accepted.
