2. Prizes and Awards
Levison Memorial Fund - Contributions from various sources established by
the Council of the National Academy of Sciences to encourage staff
development, training, and commitment within the Commission on
Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education (CBASSE). Funds will be
made available on a case-by-case basis as supplemental support for devel-
opment activities. A prize may be awarded to CBASSE staff who exert
notable and unusual effort toward improving the quality of working life in
CBASSE.
Richard Lounsbery Award - Established by Vera Lounsbery in memory of her
husband, Richard Lounsbery and supported by the Lounsbery Foundation
to recognize extraordinary scientific achievement in biology and medi-
cine. Intended to stimulate reciprocal scientific exchanges between the
United States and France, the award is given in alternate years to Ameri-
can and French scientists, and additional funds are available to the recip
