Tuberculosis: Treatment

People infected with tuberculosis (TB) in areas with≥4% isoniazid resistance should be treated with a four-drug regimen.

1,230 culture-positive TB patients, 98% of whom were in counties for which a four-drug regimen is recommended.

Data from the Tuberculosis Control Program, New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, 1994 to 1995.

36% of patients were not initially treated with four or more drugs.
