changes in vertebrae and discs, increased accumulation of extracellular matrix in the peripheral nerve, and reduced muscle strength. However, the independent role of age in modifying the negative effects of cyclical loading on these tissues is not determined. The role of gender as a covariate in the response of tissues to cyclical loading has not been investigated.
