The text that follows describes the DOE employee polygraph screening program as it operated in 2001; it was suspended by the 107th Congress on December 13, 2001 (National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2002, S1438, Sec. 3152, U.S. Department of Energy Counterintelligence Polygraph Program). This study was requested in order to inform decisions about the future of this program.
