-~- Attachment B Statement of Task Committee to Review the Desalination and Water Purifi~on Technology Roadmap A committee famed by the WSIB will review the Desalination and Water Purification Technology RoacTmap (Roadmap) developed for the Bureau of Reclamation by Sandia National L~5Qr~tOLiCS' as suggested by COO8ECSS. The review will help both organizations make desalination science and technology investment decisions and select Mare research' development' anc! demonstration projects. This objective evaluation of the Desalination and Water Purification Technology Roadmap will address the following questions: ~ Does the Desalination and Water Purification Teclmo10gy Roadrnap present an appropriate and et-tect-~ve course to help address future freshwater needs in the United States? 2. Can further investments advance the implementation of clesalir~tion by significantly reducing its cost and otherwise addressing issues associated with its increased use? 3. :C:>oes the Roadmap correctly itienti:fy the key technical and scientific issues that angst be resolved so that desalination can be made inure cost-eff~ctive? 4. Are there any missing research areas Rom the RQadmap that should be includecl? 5.
