Monica R. Lipscomb is a research associate for the National Academies’ Board on Earth Sciences and Resources. She earned an M.S. degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, with a concentration in environmental planning. Previously, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Côte d’Ivoire and has worked as a biologist at the National Cancer Institute. She holds a B.S. in Environmental and Forest Biology from the State University of New York, Syracuse.
Karen Imhof is a senior project assistant for the Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources of the National Academies. She previously worked for the Board on Earth Sciences and Resources. Earlier, she worked as a staff and administrative assistant in diverse organizations, including the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Three Mile Island nuclear facility.
