Extreme Waves

Fortunately, where we drifted near Sixty Mile Bank that day, big waves—especially extreme waves—were not a consideration. The hurricane season was over and we did not expect any bad weather. Calm seas have a certain peacefulness, but being becalmed soon makes a sailor anxious. Eager to be under way, we searched for signs of wind.
