highest honors. Fred’s guidance and leadership will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and students.
I had the good fortune of working with Fred on technicalsociety leadership, government advisory boards, and National Academy committees. We became close friends, and I got to know his family, his beloved wife, Ruth, and daughter, Elizabeth, very well. It was an honor for me to write this memorial tribute.
