Committee Activities
The committee's work required frequent meetings. The main subtopics
were given additional attention by five panels dealing, respectively, with
education; employment, income, and occupations; health; political partici-
pation and administration of criminal justice; and social and cultural conti-
nuity and change. In addition to meetings of committee and panel members
as a whole, each panel held separate meetings as needed. Some of these
meetings included presentations and discussions with invited participants;
we appreciate their contributions to the committee's work.
The work of the committee and panels was also helped enormously by a
set of commissioned papers. These papers are cited in the text of the report,
but we also note here with thanks their contributions.
