Assessing Accomplished Teaching: Advanced-Level Certification Programs

Comments: There are two versions of this report. One is an advocacy piece called “Leading from the Classroom.” The other is in the form of a memo (from Andrew Kennelly, with Yankelovich Partners, to Mary Buday, with the NBPTS). Neither provides a complete documentation of the methodology and findings. The memo simply provides a copy of the survey with the percentages of candidates who selected each response option, which we have summarized above. There is also no information provided to document the extent to which the characteristics of respondents represent those of the group who received surveys (only a statement that asserts the respondents were representative). The lack of details about the methodology makes it difficult to evaluate the robustness of the findings.
