APPENDIX B Statement of Task Objective: To explore engineering issues in the design and operation of the proposed Space Station and to assist NASA in identifying subjects that warrant special attention. Study Plan: The Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board has been asked by NASA/Office of Space Station to form a committee of experts to conduct a planning workshop on Space Station engineering design issues. The committee will · review the current status of the design and planned operation of the Space Station, with presentations given by NASA and other individuals/organizations as appropriate; · identify engineering and operational issues that warrant special attention; · prioritize the issues for NASA consideration. The results of the workshop will be reported to the NASA Office of Space Station. 67
