TN Library, archives, and records management [are the central functional units] TX The agency’s intranet, known as “Crossroads,” contains links to all internal policy and procedures manuals, such as the Occupation Safety Manual, Human Resources Manual, Records Management Manual, and many more. It also gives employees access to information from each district, division, and office, including those listed in the answer to Question 3 (Appendix D). Much of this information is also available to the general public through the department’s public website, www.dot.state.tx.us, as well as information of interest to the general public, such as news, programs, manuals, roadway information, transportation studies, customer services, etc. Search capabilities are very limited on both the intranet and Internet sites. You pretty much need to know which links to start with to drill down to find the information you need, especially on the intranet. A current project is to redesign the Internet site, among other things, addressing the public site’s search capability. UT The library and archives [are the central units]. Also, the technology transfer engineer will acquire most requests. VA Have spent a lot of time trying to figure out where things are—we are trying to establish a systematic process. VT Selecting staff with experience and topic-based expert selection are possible within the size of the agency. TABLE E2 LISTS COMMENTS REGARDING QUESTION 5
