Below is the uncorrected machine-read text of this chapter, intended to provide our own search engines and external engines with highly rich, chapter-representative searchable text of each book. Because it is UNCORRECTED material, please consider the following text as a useful but insufficient proxy for the authoritative book pages.

NONHUMAN PRIMATES The "Status" column of this section indicates which members of a listed species are endangered or threatened (U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, 1979). Information and forms necessary for trading in endangered and threatened species can be obtained from the Federal Wildlife Permit Office, Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Depart- ment of the Interior, Washington, D.C. 20240. The availability of wild-caught, nonhuman primates listed in this Directory may change as regulations of the exporting and importing coun- tries change. Contact the Federal Wildlife Permit Office, at the above address, for current information. Investigators should recognize that suppliers may not keep wild- caught, nonhuman primates "in stock," and that there may be considerable delay in obtaining these species. The Primate Supply Information Clearinghouse, SJ-50, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington 98195, phone 206/S43-5178, provides a computerized service to assist investigators locate nonhuman primates for research or breeding. This service is available at no cost through tele- phone inquiries and through weekly listings of available and needed non- human primates (whole animals and/or biologic materials). In this section the following symbols have been used: Source CR colony reared WC wild caught Status E endangered T threatened Primates are listed alphabetically under the headings of Old World and New World Species in the Index of Scientific Names at the back of this section.
