' WORKSHOP CHAIRMAN'S rmSTNn RFMARKS First and foremost, I would like to thank each of you for your dedica- ted participation. No one really knows what good can come from a conference of this nature, but I think we all agree that this kind of examination of inno- vation in transportation has to be carried out if anything at all is going to take place. We will publish the proceedings of this workshop, and, in addi- tion, there will be a Committee on Transportation report on the process of innovation in transportation later in l980, which takes account of this workshop, as well as other activities of the committee. We will do our best to bring these to the attention of officials in the Depart- ment of Transportation. We are going to try to do the same thing with the appropriate leadership in Congress. 239
