APPENDIX D.
Examples of Career Trajectories

Information in this index comes from the Directories of Pew Health Policy Fellows and Alumni published by the National Academy of Sciences. The information regarding title before the Pew Program was retrieved from the directory that was published during the year that the fellow started the program and represents the position that the fellow held immediately before entering the program. The information regarding title after the Pew Program represents the current title held by the alumni, and this information was retrieved from the 1996 Pew Directory. Positions held between the time of completion of the program and 1996 are not provided. For each category at least one to a maximum of three examples of career trajectories are provided. The numbers in parentheses represent the total number of fellows whose career trajectories followed the stated pattern. Career trajectories for those fellows who remained in the same field are
