landing craft, the LCU(X)). The Naval Studies Board has previously suggested a need for a high-speed landing craft (a sea sled) to complement the LCAC.8 The more recent analyses and war games have reinforced these earlier judgments.

RECOMMENDATION: The Navy should investigate the design and development of a high-speed, high-capacity landing craft to complement the landing craft (air cushion) (LCAC).
