Richard O. Anderson is senior vice president of Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc., a geotechnical engineering firm. He is a registered professional engineer in 11 states, and he has been involved in more than 4,000 geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological engineering projects. He has been an active member of a number of professional societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Association of Soil and Foundation Engineers. Mr. Anderson has also been involved in education both as a member of various educational advisory committees and as a lecturer and instructor.

Rebecca G. Barnes is the comprehensive planning manager for the City of Seattle, Washington. Trained as an architect and generalist, she has served in senior management positions in both Boston and Seattle and as architect and planner in several public agencies and private firms. She has taught and lectured at universities and is active in professional organizations. Her education has included Brown University, the Boston Architectural Center, the University of Oregon, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She has taught at the above institutions and at the University of Washington.

Kweku K. Bentil is the chairman of the Department of Building Construction in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Washington, where he also serves as adjunct associate professor in both the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Architecture. He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of

Florida, where he previously taught for 6 years. He has conducted much construction-related research and has served as a consultant on construction-related issues. He is the author of a textbook on the fundamentals of the construction process and the United States Air Force Construction Contract Administrator's Technical Handbook. Dr. Bentil is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Constructors, American Association of Cost Engineers, American Council for Construction Education, and the Society of American Military Engineers.

William J. Coad is president of the McClure Corporation, a mechanical/electrical consulting engineering firm. He is a fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) Engineers and has served on a large number of ASHRAE committees, including the Education Committee. Mr. Coad held the position of affiliate professor of mechanical engineering for 15 years at Washington University. He has published many papers relating to heating and air conditioning.

Robert W. Dorsey, an architect and planner, is former head of the Department of Construction Science at the University of Cincinnati, where he has been a faculty member since 1969. He has published numerous papers on architecture, planning, construction technology, and education. Mr. Dorsey has done construction-related consulting work and has served on many professional committees, such as the National Education Task Force of the American Institute of Architects and the American Council for Construction Education.

Thomas L. McKittrick has spent most of his career as a principal in his own architectural firm (MRW Architects), which has been the recipient of many awards for design excellence. Since 1990 he has taught at Texas A&M University, where he is an associate professor and March Degree Coordinator. Mr. McKittrick is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and has served at the local, state, and national levels of that organization, most recently as a national vice president. He has chaired the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Education and represented it on six National Architectural Accreditation Board accreditation visits.

Constantine E. Michaelides was dean of the School of Architecture at Washington University for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1993. He is the author of a book and several papers on the anonymous architecture of the Aegean Islands, and he is a member of several professional groups, including the American Institute of Architects and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.
