The Impact of War on Child Health in the Countries of the Former Yugoslavia
  • Individual members of the organizing committee plan to explore ways to implement appropriate exchange programs, including assistance with academic support such as books and journals and travel support for international meetings in both Europe and the United States.

  • The workshop participants will also seek to promote awareness of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child in children 's hospitals, pediatric departments, and pediatric clinics.

The role of the international pediatric community as advocates for the health and rights of all children, with particular emphasis on the protection of children in difficult circumstances, is one that will require renewed commitment and diligence. The report of the workshop on the effects of war on the children of the former Yugoslavia is an important step in exercising this role.
