$15.129 M

Information on the NSO budget was provided by NSO (the base budget and partner contributions, the GONG operations budget) and the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO) (overhead and Kitt Peak (KP) support) for the 1999 NSO budget. The overhead rates and Kitt Peak support were applied to the 1998 NSO budget numbers. The monies for overhead and NSO/KP support are extracted by NOAO before NSO obtains its fraction of the total NOAO budget. This fraction is fixed. The monies for GONG and SOLIS with overhead are considered as separate line items.

The HAO budget estimate was provided by HAO. The HAO budget includes overhead for the building, the utilities, and the operation of the Mauna Loa Solar Observatory. Called out separately are HAO’s visitor programs, supercomputer use, and special projects.
