Biopesticide Market

Biologically based pesticide products (also known as biorational products) generate sales of about $700 million per year (including transgenic crops) worldwide. The market for these products is expected to expand by over 20% over the next 5 years. Table 4-3 shows the sales figures for the global biopesticide market in the last few years and projected for 2004. These pesticides comprise living microorganisms or pheromones (animal-produced chemicals that serves as stimuli for behavioral responses in other individuals of the same species).
