• ROSAT, AXAF/Chandra, and X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission have all devoted considerable effort and money to carry out extensive preflight ground calibration and end-to-end testing. As Japanese missions become more complex and powerful, it will be expected by the international community that they attain a similar level of calibration accuracy. This might require the development of more extensive ground calibration facilities.
