A sample diet contained 2,400 kcal with 35 percent fat calories including either 10 or 30 g/day of linoleic acid (18:2) and 500 mg/day cholesterol; the high linoleic acid diet contained 10 g safflower oil. When various oils were substituted for the 10 g safflower oil, vitamin E intakes varied from 7 to 14 mg (16 to 33 µmol)/day of α-tocopherol depending on the source of the vegetable oil.
