J. CRIS BISGARD, M.D., M.P.H., has been the Director of Health Services at Delta Air Lines, Inc. since 1994. Previously, he was the Corporate Medical Director at Pacific Bell. Dr. Bisgard was a member of the U.S. Air Force until he retired after 23 years with the rank of Colonel. He served as the acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) for 3 years. He is a fellow of the Aerospace Medicine Association, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Bisgard serves on the Board of Directors at Trilinear, Inc., the Washington Business Group on Health, and the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF). He is also a member of the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine. Dr. Bisgard previously served on the Institute of Medicine Committee to Review the Breast Cancer Research Program.
GUY LABOA is currently employed by CIBA Vision as Executive Director of Dailies Manufacturing. Prior to his employment at CIBA Vision he served in the U.S. Army for 35 years and retired as a Lieutenant General in 1997. During his senior executive service in the military, he commanded the First United States Army, served as chief of staff of the United States Forces Command, and commanded the 4th Infantry Division (Mech.) at Fort Carson, among numerous senior posts. His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Purple Heart.
LAYTON McCURDY, M.D., is the Vice President for Medical Affairs, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. McCurdy has made contributions to the scientific literature in the areas of medical education, addiction, psychopharmacology, and current issues in psychiatry. He served as Chair of the American Psychiatric Association's Committee on Psychiatric Diagnosis and Assessment.
MATTHEW L. PUGLISI is currently employed as the Government Relations Manager for the Optical Society of America, an association of optical scientists involved with technologies to include fiber optics and lasers. Prior to his employment with OSA he was employed with the American Legion representing Gulf War veterans' interests before the federal government. He served on the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf War Expert Scientific Committee. Mr. Puglisi served in the Persian Gulf with the U.S. Marines during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and is currently a Major in the Marine Reserves.
