A Workshop Statement of Task An ad hoc planning committee will plan and conduct a public session in workshop format at the 2012 Preparedness Summit that will examine the long-term recovery of the U.S. health care service delivery infrastructure. This session will feature invited presentations and discussions that will provide participants with an opportunity to engage representatives from federal, state, and local governments as well as the nonprofit and private sectors to identify services necessary to maintain or improve the affected health care service delivery infrastructure necessary to meet the long-term physical and behavioral health needs of affected populations. The discussions will highlight lessons learned from previous disasters, and focus on opportunities to leverage programs and activities across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors that support long-term recovery and mass casualty care. Specifically, presentations and discussions will ï· Identify services necessary to maintain or improve the affected health care service delivery infrastructure to ensure it meets the long-term physical and behavioral health needs of affected populations. ï· Discuss the roles and functions of the relevant emergency support functions in facilitating long-term recovery of the health care service delivery infrastructure. ï· Highlight lessons learned from previous disasters, and identify priorities for pre-incident operational plans, with a specific focus on opportunities to leverage programs and activities across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors that support long-term recovery and mass casualty care. 19
20 POST-INCIDENT RECOVERY CONSIDERATIONS The committee will develop the agenda for the workshop session, select and invite speakers and discussants, and moderate the discussions. An individually authored workshop summary will be prepared based on the information gathered and the discussions held during the workshop session.
