We want you to feel comfortable ordering online. We've tried to make it easy, we've offered you special discounts, we've set up a whole back-office process for getting orders out to our warehouse quickly and we've spent a lot of time and effort making our site useful. We certainly don't want to ruin the whole experience for you by putting your personal credit card information at risk.
Our Website designers are employees of the National Academies Press. We don't contract the design or control of our
site out to a disinterested third party. Our servers are all sitting in our own building and their caretakers are here all day making sure that they're up and running. Our internet site represents a vital part of our business and
we treat it as such. This means that we've used the best technology available to safeguard the information you send to us.
All ordering information is SSL encrypted, which is considered to be the best that the industry has to offer. All of your personal information, including your credit card data, is scrambled and coded as it passes over the internet so that it cannot be pirated. We also have a firewall in place that further protects the data once they reach our server.
Our track record is pretty good -- in fact, it's perfect. We've been taking orders over the Web since 1996. We
receive many, many orders each day. There has never been even one incident of credit card fraud
associated with an order placed on the National Academies Press Website. We have every expectation of maintaining
that perfect record.
If you still don't feel at ease in putting your credit card data out on the net, check out our other ordering options. We'd be glad to hear from you by fax, by phone, or by mail!
