TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 34: Handbook to Assess the Impacts of Constrained Parking at Airports explores different types of parking constraints that airports experience and highlights tools to assess the impacts of the constraints and strategies to deal with them.
The handbook includes a predictive modeling tool in a CD-ROM format designed to help determine the effects of implementing various parking strategies. The CD is also available for download from TRB's website as an ISO image. Links to the ISO image and instructions for burning a CD-ROM from an
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Research Results Digest 346: Optical Sizing and Roundness Determination of Glass Beads Used in Traffic Markings summarizes the results of a project that examined the precision and bias of both optical and traditional mechanical methods for different glass bead types. The project also compared the precision and bias of various measurement methods, and explored development of a practice for the use of computerized optical methods and equipment to measure the size and roundness of glass beads used in traffic markings.
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Synthesis 404: State of the Practice in Highway Access Management examines current practice, potential barriers, and possible enhancements to highway access management programs. The report focuses on legal, legislative, policy, program, implementation, and effectiveness issues related to access management.
Appendixes A-D of NCHRP Synthesis 404 are available online.
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Research Results Digest 348: State Department of Transportation Role in the Implementation of Transportation Demand Management Programs explores examples of successful implementation and support of transportation demand management (TDM) programs by state departments of transportation (DOTs).
The report is designed to be used as a primer for states to use in implementing TDM programs and includes a set of case studies, examining the range of ways that state DOTs encourage TDM services.

TRB's Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Synthesis 83: Bus and Rail Transit Preferential Treatments in Mixed Traffic explores the application of different transit preferential treatments in mixed traffic. The report also examines the decision-making process that may be applied in deciding which preferential treatment might be the most applicable in a particular location.
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 600C, Human Factors Guidelines for Road Systems, Collection C--including Chapters 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22 (Tutorials 4, 5, 6), 23 (Updated), 24, 25, 26 (Updated)--explores human factors principles and findings for consideration by highway designers and traffic engineers. The report is designed to help the nonexpert in human factors to consider more effectively the roadway user's capabilities and limitations in the design and operation of highway facilities. [more]
TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Research Results Digest 10: Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) Deployment for Airport Obstruction Surveys explores the readiness of LIDAR technology as a cost-effective alternative to the traditional methods for collecting the data required to prepare airport obstruction surveys that meet government requirements. The report also examines a sample specification that responsible agencies might use to procure LIDAR-based aerial survey services to produce an airport obstruction survey.
TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Synthesis 20: Airport Terminal Facility Activation Techniques explores lessons learned during terminal activations at 13 domestic and international airport facilities. The report is designed to help identify effective airport terminal facility activation practices.
TRB's Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Report 95: Traveler Response to Transportation System Changes, Chapter 19 - Employer and Institutional TDM Strategies pair-uses wise comparisons to explore the relative importance of particular categories of TDM strategies, such as support versus incentives, as well as the particular strategies themselves, such as transit subsidy versus a high-occupancy vehicle parking discount.
TDM (transportation demand management or travel demand management) is a process that can encompass a variety of measures intended to influence travel choic
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Research Results Digest 345: Alternate Strategies for Safety Improvement Investments explores the "black spot" analysis and "systematic" methods currently being used by states to help make decisions on the allocation of safety resources.
