This infographic from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine features data from their report, Review of the 21st Century Truck Partnership: Third Report.

Over the next few decades, the need for medium and heavy duty vehicles (MHDVs) in the transportation sector for shipping is expected to grow substantially. As the government moves to issue fuel consumption and emissions regulations for these vehicles, it is becoming increasingly important to develop fuel-saving technologies for the next generation of MHDVs. The report highlights several noteworthy advancements achieved by the 21st Century Truck Partnership, a cooperative research and development initiative between four government agencies and fifteen industry partners, with an emphasis on new technologies integrated into SuperTruck demonstration vehicles.
