53 Example Well-Being Program Materials A P P E N D I X E This appendix provides well-being program materials or resources that may be helpful to airports as they consider how to move forward in implementing or updating employee well-being plans. These resources were gathered through the literature review as well as from case example interview participants or other airport contacts who were willing to provide examples from their well-being programs. These materials include resources to display different elements related to airport employee well-being programs, such as the following: Sharing program details with internal staff Sharing well-being program details or successes with external individuals Providing example well-being program offerings Tracking and reporting on program progress These resources can be a starting point for airports to consider the best ways to move forward with their own employee well-being plans.

54 Airport Workforce Programs Supporting Employee Well-Being Presenting the Well-Being Program to Staff This airport presents their well-being program offerings to staff in a way that is easy to understand and for them to be able to see all available offerings.

Example Well-Being Program Materials 55 Columbia Metropolitan Airport: CAE Gives Back Through Community Service This airport incorporates community service and supporting others into its employee well-being program. Photographs from these events and examples of the communications with employees regarding these events are provided on the following pages. Wellness and Walking for a Good Cause: CAE Gives Back at Sexual Trauma Services “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” Event CAE Gives Back by Adopting a Family of Seven Greetings everyone, Columbia Airport is participating in the 2019 Midlands Families Helping Families, an initiative of Palmetto Project and WIS News 10. The program helps to provide gifts to local families in need at Christmas. We have selected a family of 7 to buy gifts for. If you would like to participate, we are asking that each department choose (1) child from the attached list to purchase a clothing item, a toy and a book (if listed). Please bring your department’s gifts to the admin office by December 13th. The gifts will be delivered to the distribution warehouse on December 14th. Reply back with the name of the child you would like your department to sponsor. Through your kindness and generosity a family in need will have a very special Christmas. This is just another way CAE gives back to our local community!

56 Airport Workforce Programs Supporting Employee Well-Being CAE Gives Back Through Project Pantry Good morning all, This is a follow up email regarding the CAE “Gives Back” to our local community through Project Pantry. The Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission has asked for a collaborative effort to help fill 1,000 bags of food to help end senior hunger in the Midlands during this upcoming holiday season. The holidays can be especially challenging for senior citizens who live alone, have no family, transportation or steady income. We are collecting the items below for seniors who use the Meals on Wheels services. Please consider donating a canned good from the list below. The drop box is located at the front of the admin office, near the desk. Please drop off food items by 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019. If you would like to make a monetary donation or volunteer your time to help assemble the bags, please let me know. There is a sign-up sheet at the front desk in the Admin office. Bags will be assembled on November 26, 2019 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Gilbert Senior Center, located at 409 Broad Street, Gilbert SC. Thank you in advance for your consideration and participation!

Airport employees face a variety of stressors in their daily work lives, and there are numerous and varied approaches that airports are currently taking to focus on employee well-being.

The TRB Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Synthesis 113: Airport Workforce Programs Supporting Employee Well-Being details the most commonly used well-being program offerings at airports.

Benefits of these programs to airports include reduced health care costs, improved productivity, decreased absenteeism, improved employee recruitment and retention, and camaraderie and teamwork among employees. By participating in well-being programs, employees can also experience personal benefits, such as improved physical health, increased job satisfaction, and other emotional benefits.
