SOLUTIONS TO EXERCISE 15

Remember that objects apparently in motion around Earth can be
assumed to rise at the eastern horizon, take six hours to reach its
highest point or transit, and take another six hours to set at the
western horizon. Earth's precessional tilt, and the tilt of various
orbiting objects in the solar system, may complicate this picture
slightly; but we can generally put those details aside.

If the Sun is setting - that is, it's at the western horizon -
while the Moon is rising - that is, it's at the eastern horizon -
then they are at opposite sides of Earth tonight. It's a full moon.
It will transit at midnight.
