Call to Action for
SCIENCE EDUCATION

The importance of science for the well-being of humanity and the planet has never been more clear. In recognition of this, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has convened a committee to develop a Call to Action for Science Education. The committee is working to identify key steps the nation can take in order to prepare students to face the global challenges of the future both as engaged participants in society and in their careers. The report of the committee will outline recommendations for state and national policy makers and education leaders to support equitable, productive pathways for all students to thrive and have opportunities to pursue careers in science and related STEM fields.

We appreciate and thank all of those who have provided input. The response was overwhelming and the study committee is taking it into account as they draft their report.

Please visit the project website for up-to-date information about the project and to register for upcoming events. We anticipate the report will be released in June 2021.
