In adclition, one of the most profound astrophysical discoveries of the last decacle was evidence for dark energy and the accelerated expansion of the universe, which are not yet explained in terms of fundamental physics and are noted as leacling questions in the Connecting Quarks with the Cosmos report.~7 This discovery is so important that the Board believes it deserves mention in the list of"grand questions" in the opening paragraphs of the SEU theme.
