The Committee di rects NHTSA to contract with the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences to conduct a study on the benefits and ac ceptability of these technologies, as well as any legislative or regulatory ac tions that may be necessary to enable installation of devices to encourage seat belt use in passenger vehicles.
