138 Economic Analysis of Asphalt Mixtures Containing RAS Ideally, an economic analysis of using RAS in asphalt mixtures would consider the full life-cycle costs, which would include initial cost savings from using the recycled material, as well as the impact that the material may have on the maintenance and service life of the asphalt layer. However, at this time, there is insufficient information on the maintenance and long-term performance of mixtures containing RAS relative to mixtures without RAS.
