A significant limitation of the antiaggressive effects of acutely administered benzodiazepines is their strongly sedating and musclerelaxant side effects.

Of particular urgency is the improved psychiatric and neurologic diagnosis of those patients who are prone to exhibit increased hostility and violent outbursts. It is feasible that the regulation of the GABAA-benzodiazepine receptor is critically determined by genetic predispositions and modulated by life experiences with affective aggressive behaviors.
