HYPERSONIC VEHICLES Hypersonic vehicles propelled by air-breathing propulsion systems, in addition to the scramjet missile currently 34 under consideration, might include higher Mach number, long-range missiles; theater-reach and global-reach aircraft designed to deliver weapons or for reconnaissance missions; and space launch vehicles.
