His research has included investigations of the effects of toxic chemicals and ionizing radiation on sperm production, and he developed quantitative morphometric approaches for human semen analysis. At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, he directs three research projects for developing new molecular methods to detect male reproductive toxicity as well as human somatic and germinal mutations.
