TRB's Commercial Truck and Bus Safety Synthesis Program (CTBSSP) Research Results Digest 8: A Status Report describes the progress and status of the Commercial Truck and Bus Safety Synthesis Program (CTBSSP). CTBSSP is a cooperative research program sponsored by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and administered by the Transportation Research Board. The program was authorized in late 2001 and began in 2002 in support of the FMCSA's safety research programs.
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 643: Implementing Transportation Knowledge Networks explores a business plan for the development of Transportation Knowledge Networks (TKNs) in the United States. The business plan defines ten key products and services to be provided to transportation practitioners by the regional TKNs, with support from a national coordination function. TKNs are defined as "decentralized, managed networks linking information providers to users wherever they are located."

The report examines the signs of good communications practices, the communication process, planning and evaluating communications efforts, communicating for specific audiences, and case studies on good communication practices within and outside of the transportation community.
TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 7: Aircraft and Airport-Related Hazardous Air Pollutants: Research Needs and Analysis examines the state of the latest research on aviation-related hazardous air pollutants emissions and explores knowledge gaps that existing research has not yet bridged.
TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 509: Equipment for Collecting Traffic Load Data identifies the key issues that should be considered by state and other highway operating agencies in selecting traffic equipment for collecting the truck volumes and load spectra needed for analysis and design of pavement structures.
