Board on International Comparative Studies in Education Statement of charge

The Board on International Comparative Studies in Education (BICSE) was established in 1988 with funding from federal agencies that sponsor U.S. participation in cross-national comparative studies in education to ensure that the comparisons are technically valid and the findings of relevance to policy makers. Under its current grant, BICSE will expand its role to provide a locus for conceptual leadership in the field of international education studies and comparative analysis of education systems. Through workshops, conferences, and commissioned work, the board will be a national forum for synthesis, analysis, and strategic planning for international education research. Support is provided by a consortium of federal agencies through a grant currently administered by the National Science Foundation. The contributions are for the general support of board activities and for a subcontract covering activities of the U.S. member of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA).

This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 9815157. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation.
