21.1 Research Need At the turn of the 21st century, many practitioners believed that because of the Internet, new logistics technologies and sensors, and the increasing integration of supply chains, a revolution in freight data would occur that would provide substantial new datasets and tools to public sector freight planners. Introduction 5 The objective of this guidebook is to provide a series of guidelines for sharing freight data, primarily between public and private freight stakeholders.
