Laura Mester, the chair, introduced each of the speakers and provided them an opportunity to share their thoughts on the following five themes: • The role of the federal government in providing stewardship to transportation agencies, • The demand for increased government accountability, • The evolution of agency investment priorities to better meet economic and societal demands, • The need for stronger collaboration across modes and jurisdictions, and • The growing importance of climate change and extreme weather events in agency decisions.
