He remains involved part-time as the co-director of the Center for Animal Disease Modeling and Surveillance and co-director of the FMD Surveillance and Modeling Laboratory, where he continues to pursue his research interests in infectious disease epidemiology and surveillance, particularly related to foot-and-mouth disease. His interests during the last 38 years of professional teaching, research, and service have included clinical medicine and clinical epidemiology, primarily related to infectious diseases of livestock, new methods in diagnostic epidemiology, and modeling and development of disease control and surveillance systems.
