... Supercomputers, for purposes of weather forecasting, are now literally scattered throughout the world. It is also important, considering the growing national and international concerns about the greenhouse problem, to recognize that the only way we have had to simulate and experiment with the consequences of increasing concentrations of infrared gases in the atmosphere has been by modeling atmospheric and oceanic systems with supercomputers.
