Nonetheless, impurities of concern are known or suspected to be present in additives, and the committee recommends that the water treatment industry adopt voluntary standards of purity for these additives. It is also recommended that more extensive data based on the purity of drinking water additives be developed and that this information be used to continuously revise and update this Codex.
