Although there is no minimum or maximum amount of individual project award, the individual award cannot exceed the funds available.

Funding requests are evaluated on the basis of the importance of the rail line for rail users and overhead traffic, the number of people employed by rail-dependent rail users, and the importance of the line with respect to affected shipper transporta on costs.
