Surface condition did not differ among any of the event types, including comparisons between crashes, near crashes, and their respective matched baselines. Lighting Lighting is defined as "the lighting condition at the time of the start of the precipitating event." Lighting did not vary between near crashes and crashes, or between each of these and their matched baselines.
