She was a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention in 1986-1987, and a Visiting Scientist at the University of Hohenheim, West Germany, Institute of Biological Chemistry and Nutrition.

As clinical director of one of the original Lipid Research Clinics she has directed numerous federally sponsored clinical trials, including the Coronary Primary Prevention Trial, the Postmenopausal Estrogen Progestin Interventions Trial, the Cholesterol Reduction in Senior Persons Study, as well as the Heart Estrogen-Progestin Replacement Therapy.
