24 The survey and literature review included in this synthesis report confirm that airport economic impact studies are commonly used as tools for airport operators, planners, and state agencies. They are used for a number of purposes, including measuring the economic value of the airport to the local community, region, and specific industries; justifying capital expenditures of public funds for airport improvement projects; and supporting ongoing airport and community planning efforts.
