59 C H A P T E R 7 Introduction This chapter describes vehicle-based treatments that improve safety at the platform/vehicle interface. The treatments include the use of the following: • Door threshold extensions • Movable vehicle-based gap fillers • Vehicle-based ramps and bridging plates • Vehicle-based between-car barriers • Door closure detection technologies The vehicle-based treatments are technologies that are installed on the vehicle and fill in the space between the door threshold and the platform.
